Energy Group

To further the mission of Transition Sebastopol in the area of energy
This group hosts workshops; sponsors speaking/educational events; conducts public policy advocacy (specifically, most recently, advocating for community choice aggregation in Sebastopol and Sonoma County, with fact sheets, petitions, template letters to county supervisors, letters to the editor of the Press Democrat, etc. This campaign is on hold for the moment, as the Sonoma County Board of Supes just allocated some hundreds of thousands of dollars for a CCA feasibility study, which will be completed in September . . .)

This group has a planning meeting once a month on the 4th Monday in the evening
Occasional action planning meeting on the following Monday as needed
Also special workshop & public events as scheduled

This group is open. If a person is interested they should email Woody or Marc and the person will be invited to a “planning” meeting and given the time/date & location info to be able to attend. If they just want to be notified about our public events and workshops they can email Woody to be added to the announcement list. (to be added to an announce only list-serve so a person could unsubscribe oneself from it.)

Once a person has attended a planning meeting, then they can be put on the planning google group email list for ongoing meetings.

Welcome to the Transition Sebastopol Energy Group Page! The Energy Group exists to advance the mission of Transition Sebastopol in the energy arena. The mission of Transition Sebastopol is to create a positive vision of the future by cultivating community resilience in response to the potential challenges of resource depletion, climate change, and economic instability.

The Energy Group was established in April 2010 and in our first year of activity we hosted several workshops, co-sponsored several events, and developed positions on energy policy. We meet on a regular basis and welcome new members. Check the calendar on this website for future meetings and events.
